Supermacs Competition Winner
Megan Warren from Third Class (Ms. Caslin's room) recently won the Supermacs colouring competition. The prize allowed Megan to bring all of her class to Supermacs where they got to make their own pizzas. They had great fun and the pizzas were yummy!

Hurling Coaching
The hurling development officer,  Séamus Hughes has been visiting our school for the past few weeks to give hurling lessons to fourth class. They are really enjoying the experience and we are very impressed with the children's hurling skills. We are looking forward to a blitz on June 18th.

North Leinster Finals
Our girl’s school soccer team travelled to MDL Park, Trim to represent Longford schools on Thursday April 26th. The Girls played 3 games. First we played Tullyallen and secured a 3-1 win. The winning streak continued as they beat St. Etchen’s, Kinnegad 3-0. Emma Shannon scored a screamer of a goal from tip. The girls went on to play St. Stephen’s N.S. in their final game. On Wednesday 14th March the footballers of Scoil Mhuire, Newtownforbes regained the Division 1 League title after a lapse of 17 years. Indoor Hurling – League Winners
Congratulations to our indoor hurling team who won their league final on 6th March. The boys beat Glen NS by 5 goals to 2. The team were unbeaten throughout the whole competition and were worthy winners on the evening. All the boys played their part during the competition and produced many fine displays. The Brian Column memorial Chess Tournament took place in the Complex on Friday March 9th. Children from our school along with over 480 children from surrounding counties took part. The children really enjoyed the day and did their school proud with some fantastic performances.
